The race promises to be a spectacle with Pedersen and Vdp
The 2026 Ghent-Wevelgem, also known as "In Flanders Fields," is a race that combines tradition, toughness, and unpredictability. It's not just a classic for sprinters: it's a test of mental and physical endurance, where every detail can change the outcome of the race. After more than halfway through the race, the route changes completely. You enter the heart of Flanders, where the walls begin: short, steep climbs, often cobbled.
Among these, the most iconic is the Kemmelberg , tackled several times. It is a climb that is symbolic of the race: narrow, irregular, with steep gradients. Once the final section of the Kemmelberg has been completed, the race enters its decisive phase. Only the strongest remain: a small group or small groups.
In this scenario, complete riders like Mads Pedersen, who has already won the race three times, become particularly dangerous.
Alongside Pedersen is Mathieu van der Poel , perhaps the most explosive rider in the race. His ideal strategy is to anticipate: attack on the Kemmelberg or shortly thereafter, exploiting his technical and physical superiority on the walls. If he can make the difference, he can finish alone.
Another expected protagonist is Wout van Aert, who finished the Sanremo in third place, demonstrating his great condition.
Then there are the men 'from the North', above all Florian Vermeersch, Jasper Stuyven and Jonas Abrahamsen.
So the sprinters: woe betide anyone who cuts out riders like Jasper Philipsen, Tobias Lund Andresen, Jordi Meeus and Paul Magnier from the final fight.
Among the Italians, we hope for a good result from Filippo Ganna, Matteo Trentin and Jonathan Milan.
