His appeal on social networks to find a team for 2025 has made a splash; Negasi Haylu Abreha , the reigning Ethiopian champion, was a guest in the “Fantacycling Lounge” at Team Q 36.5 in the last few days and launched another appeal to be able to race next season: “I made this appeal on Twitter, because I no longer had a contract and not having an agent it is not easy to find a team, so I tried to write it on social media”.
Negasi is shy and extremely polite in expressing himself, but he makes it clear how complicated his current situation is: “The team told me in September that they would not renew my contract, so for me it was too late to find a team in September”.
Next year there will be the World Championships in Rwanda, so for an African runner it represents an extra motivation: “Of course he will want to be there, I hope so, it would be fantastic”.

A point of reference for all African runners is certainly Bini Girmay , who has written history, especially over the last year: “I know Girmay, he is a great source of motivation, everyone knows who he is and what he has done. I am also friends with Ghebreigzabhier, we speak the same language and he also lives in Lucca ”.
Negasi won the Ethiopian championship in 2024 and 2019: “Definitely my greatest success, 2019 was my best year. As a runner I have the characteristics of a climber. I hope someone will answer my call”.
