General Manager Peris presents a historic milestone

The Volta Ciclista a Catalunya is preparing for 2025. The race, won in 2024 by world champion Tadej Pogacar , will have a stage in the next edition, the 104th, that will run through the Girona area, starting from Banyoles and finishing in the city of Figueres .

The race organizers have reached an agreement with the respective municipalities and the Diputació de Girona to include, in the next edition of the race, a stage that will start in Banyoles and finish in Figueres, which 56 years later will relive the spectacle of the Volta . The agreement also includes a stage for the 2026 edition, which will have the opposite direction; starting in Figueres and finishing in Banyoles. The stage will cover a large part of the Girona territory, with presences in counties such as Pla de l'Estany, Gironès, Baix Empordà and Alt Empordà.

"Figueres and Banyoles have been part of the history of the Volta since its inception," said Rubén Peris , general director of the Volta Ciclista in Catalonia . "Their involvement over the years makes us proud, as they see the Catalan race as an opportunity to promote the city through a world-class race. We will certainly experience a stage between the two cities that will allow us to enjoy the landscapes of the area and the best cycling in the world."
