First stage of the Giro d'Italia 107, from Venaria Reale to Turin of 140 km.

Six riders attempt to escape in the first kilometers of the race: Barrè, Pietrobon, Fiorelli, Debeaumarchè, Calmejane and Ghebreizgabhier, with the latter two managing to break away from the other attackers on the Superga hill and remaining alone in command, with around 2' on the group principal.

On Colle Maddalena the UAE Team Emirates force heavily selected the group with Arensman, Bardet and Plapp breaking away , while Calmejane remained alone in the lead and managed to win the first blue jersey of the Giro.

Conci approaches the last climb of San Vito with a 30" margin thanks to an extension on the flat. Pogacar attacks decisively as soon as the climb begins together with Narvaez and with Schachmann who manages to return on the descent.

The three of them fight for the first pink jersey in the sprint with Narvaez beating Schachmann and Pogacar and taking the first stage of the Giro.
