The World Championships week will open in Switzerland on Saturday 21 September: the individual time trial will kick off the event.

The route, 46.1 km long, will have the city of Zurich as the starting and finishing point. The first twenty kilometers will be flat, from here the runners will have to face a hilly section , with gradients that will reach close to 9%. The last ten kilometers, on the shores of Lake Zurich, will once again be without altimetric difficulties, but particular attention will have to be paid to the wind in the final, which could prove decisive.

The big favourite is the reigning champion Remco Evenepoel , the Belgian, fresh from his Olympic double, will try to also win the two world championship races, for a historic result, never achieved by any cyclist in history.

The most likely rival on the eve of the event is the British Tarling , followed by our Filippo Ganna , who however experienced a very complicated period after the Olympics.

Roglic , fresh from winning the Vuelta, will try to fight for a place on the podium, as will Edoardo Affini , perhaps in the best condition of his career and winner of the European championship in the specialty last week.

Other riders who could achieve a good placing include home rider Kung, McNulty, Sheffield, Joao Almeida and former world champion Foss.

Remember that you still have time to sign up for our special World League , at a cost of 1.99 euros, with fantastic gifts up for grabs, in addition to the usual themed badge for the first hundred classified!
