The Belgian team confirms the negotiation with its rider, but does not release further statements
Sudden and unexpected news arrived yesterday of a possible contract termination for Maxim Van Gils, a 1999-born rider riding for Lotto Dsny .
The rumours were confirmed by the team itself, which, in a statement, declared that it was in talks with Van Gils himself, who has a contract until 2026.
The reasons for this choice of the Belgian rider have not yet been made public ; one hypothesis could be the offer of a more prestigious team with a more attractive economic proposal.
Van Gils has been riding with Lotto since he was an amateur for three seasons, before turning professional in 2021. In these four years as a pro he has grown a lot and is establishing himself as one of the most interesting riders for the classics thanks to a remarkable endurance, good uphill endurance and excellent fast acceleration.
