Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek) wins the fourth stage of the Tour de France, from Carcassonne to Foix (181.9 km).
A massive breakaway of 34 riders set off in the first stage of the race, with the yellow jersey group giving way as there were no men within it who were dangerous for the overall standings.
On the Col de Coudons, Tratnik and Vacek tried to pull away, followed by Kirsch, but the three were caught on the first slopes of the Col de Montsegur.
On the climb, it is the EF that forces the pace, with the leading group gradually selecting itself.
There are several attack attempts and at the top 10 men manage to gain an advantage.
In the final, Lidl-Trek kept the race closed with Vacek and Simmons for Pedersen .
The Dane starts at the last corner and wins by a landslide ahead of Simmons and Garcia Pierna .
The peloton arrives at 12:59, with Traeen taking the yellow jersey. Pedersen takes the green jersey.
