The route of the 2027 Tour de France Femmes has been unveiled: a Grand Départ in the United Kingdom, a crossing of northern and central France, and a thrilling finale with two consecutive mountain stages in Auvergne.

The sixth edition of the race will start on Friday, July 30, 2027 , and the yellow jersey will be awarded on Sunday, August 7. There will still be nine stages, as in 2026, but there will be an extra day dedicated to the transfer back to France after the British start.

The race begins with three stages in Great Britain : two stages between Manchester and the Pennines, followed by the first-ever team time trial in London. The peloton will then return to France via Calais.

The main protagonist will be the Puy de Dôme , a historic climb of the Tour that returned to the race in 2023 after a long absence. It will be the culmination of the race, with the finish of the ninth and final stage.

The stages in summary

Stage 1: Leeds - Manchester, 87.5 km, rolling with a flat finish.

Stage 2: Manchester - Sheffield, 154.4 km, rolling with a flat finish.

Stage 3: London - The Mall (London), 18 km, team time trial.

Stage 4: Le Touquet Paris-Plage - Calais, 123 km, a tense route.

Stage 5: Neufchâtel-en-Bray - Magnanville, 161 km, uphill finish.

Stage 6: Orléans - Bourges, 138 km, flat.

Stage 7: Nevers - La Loge des Gardes, 155 km, high-altitude finish.

Stage 8: La Bourboule - Clermont-Ferrand, 151 km, mountains.

Stage 9: Clermont-Ferrand - Puy de Dôme, 170 km, mountains.

What will the race be like?

Like last year, the route seems designed to bring the general classification to life almost every day. The first stage features challenging roads, while the team time trial in London will establish a first ranking before the return to France. From there, the journey across the country is punctuated by ups and downs, leading up to the grand finale in the Massif Central.

Ideas for fantasy cycling

The team time trial on stage three will be a key variable: athletes from the strongest time trial teams can score important points early on, so it's worth focusing on the best-equipped teams. Keep an eye on the first two British stages, too, with rolling terrain but a flat finish: ideal terrain for finishers, strong attackers, and sprinters who can handle the ups and downs.

Stages 4 and 5, with their challenging course and uphill finish, could yield surprises and long-distance breakaways. Stage 6 is the time for the pure sprinters, while Stage 7 really gets into the thick of the general classification. The final two days, both in the mountains, will favor those who arrive in the strongest shape: retaining a trusted climber and a few wildcards for the crucial days could make the difference.

Names to watch out for

2026 winner and reigning world champion Demi Vollering (FDJ United-Suez) will be chasing a third title, but she'll have to contend with some serious rivals: Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney (forthcoming Lidl-Trek), Marlen Reusser (Movistar), and Pauline Ferrand-Prévot (Visma-Lease a Bike). Plus, there are two young talents on the rise: Paula Blasi (forthcoming Movistar) and Antonia Niedermaier (Canyon-SRAM).

More details will follow.
