Christian Scaroni (XDS Astana Team) wins the fifth and final stage of the Tour of Oman, from Nizwa to Jabal Al Akhdhar (Green Mountain) (155.9km).

The day's breakaway consisted of Price-Pejtersen, Albanese, Dapuhin, Dversnes, and Hvideberg, with the five leaders approaching the very tough final climb with a margin of about 2' on the main group.

The UAE team took charge of setting the pace, with Torres starting to pick off the group. Adam Yates then took the lead midway up the climb: his attack put the leader Schmid under pressure and allowed the leading group to pursue the last escapee, Dversnes .

Yates accelerates several times and with him remain Double , Plapp , Rodriguez and Scaroni .
In the final kilometer, Plapp attacked, but the Australian stalled with 150 meters to go. The sprint was a dead heat, with Scaroni pulling away and taking the stage and the overall classification. Rodriguez and Plapp finished on the stage podium.

In the general classification, Rodriguez placed behind Scaroni while Yates managed to take at least the third step of the podium.
