Solo arrival for the Dutch
Mathieu Van der Poel closes the season by winning the second rainbow jersey in the specialty. After winning the cyclocross world championship last February, the Dutchman also wins the gravel world championship held today, October 6, in Belgium.
After 182 km of racing, Van der Poel was one minute ahead of Belgian Florian Veermersch and almost four minutes ahead of another Belgian Quinten Hermans, who beat his compatriots Jasper Stuyven and Gianni Vermeersch, Briton Connor Swift and Slovenian, and 2023 champion, Matej Mohoric, in the sprint.
