The Frenchman wins the final sprint of the first stage
Christophe Laporte won the first stage of the Vuelta a Andalucia, 150km from Benahavis to Pizarra.
Despite a rather uneven course in the first part with three mountain categorisations, and a breakaway of several men including Jan Christen, Ivan Romeo and Quinten Hermans, the stage was decided by a sprint for a rather large group.
The Frenchman from Visma Lease a Bike took the win and the first overall leader's jersey, beating Bastien Tronchon of Groupama Fdj and Ben Oliver of Modern Adventure in a sprint finish. Soren Waerenskjold of Uno X came from behind to finish fourth, while Nicolò Buratti of Mbh Bank CSB Telecom For finished sixth.
