A scary moment on stage 10 of the 2026 Tour de France : Tom Pidcock (Pinarello Q36.5) and his teammate Chris Harper crashed on a bend on the descent from Puy Mary, less than 30 kilometers from the finish. According to initial reports, Matteo Jorgenson (Visma-Lease a Bike) also crashed at the same time.

Pidcock, usually one of the most skilled and spectacular downhill riders in the peloton, lost control of his bike and skidded on a corner. The road surface appeared to have areas covered in white paint or dust , which may have made the asphalt treacherously slippery: a factor not to be underestimated in a race, especially on fast descents.

The Briton's fall was stopped by a car parked at the side of the road, which prevented Pidcock from going off the course. A stroke of luck that likely limited his physical injuries. Harper, on the other hand, had a harder time getting up: according to Romain Bardet , a Eurosport correspondent on the bike, his teammate was complaining of pain in his wrist .

Jorgenson wasn't caught on camera when he crashed, but he later appeared to be separated from the group as he attempted to rejoin. He had a bleeding elbow , but he reassured everyone by giving the camera a thumbs-up. A sign of determination that didn't go unnoticed.

On the athletic front, Pidcock demonstrated great resilience: he quickly recovered and managed to rejoin the group of favorites before the 20th kilometer to the finish, thus limiting the damage to the general classification. This recovery testifies to his mental strength, despite an already challenging stage so far.
