Tomas Gulllermo Silva (XDS Astana) wins the second stage of the Giro d'Italia, from Burgas to Veliko Tarnovo (221 km).

The bad weather and the long mileage discouraged escape attempts, with the two teammates at Polti Sevilla and Maestri attacking, without much hope.

The two leaders were caught up with 25 km to go, but 5 km later, a crash triggered by Soler involved as many as 30 riders. On the climb, Astana took the lead, with Scaroni attacking, with Marcellusi, Arensman, and Ciccone responding, but neither was able to make a difference.

In the final sprint, Vingegaard surprisingly attacks and makes a great selection. The Dane is left with Pellizzari and Van Eetvelt.

The three gained an advantage over the rest of the group, but in the final kilometer the group closed in and closed in. The sprint then came with a super surprise , Silva, who beat out Stork and Ciccone .
