Tour de France, Pogacar show

Tadej Pogacar wins the sixth stage of the Tour de France, 186.2 km from Pau to Gavarnie-Gèdre.

UAE Team Emirates controlled the race from the start and set a blistering pace on the Aspin, reducing the leading group to less than forty riders. The yellow jersey, Traen, dropped in the opening kilometers of the Tourmalet and crashed on the following descent, losing the overall lead.  

Then, 5km from the summit of the Tourmalet, Del Toro and Pogacar pull away, with Vingegaard and Seixas unable to hold off.

Del Toro couldn't keep pace with the world champion, who went off alone. Vingegaard caught up with the Mexican and seemed able to close the gap on Pogacar, but the Slovenian went too fast and opened up a further lead, reaching the summit of the mountain with a lead of more than 20 seconds.

Pogacar also gained ground on the Tourmalet descent, with Vingegaard 's gap increasing to 1'. The Dane was also caught by the chasing group, consisting of Seixas, Lipowitz, Del Toro, Evenepoel, Ayuso, Skjelmose, Lenny Martinez, and Kuss .  

The world champion arrives alone at the finish line and gains further on Vingegaard, and on the group of pursuers, who arrive respectively at 2'40” and 2'59”, with the sprint regulated by Del Toro  

Pogacar is the new yellow jersey of this Tour de France, with a 2:42 lead over Vingegaard and a 3:27 lead over Del Toro. Cian Uijtdebroeks, the Movistar team's captain, has withdrawn after having had a fever for several days.
