Tour of Guangxi: Widar wins the last stage

Pidcock defeated in NongLa, the Belgian takes the overall

Jarno Widar won the sixth and final stage of the Guangxi Tour, 165.8 km from Yizhou to Nong LA. After five sprints, the stage that will decide the overall standings is now upon us, finishing after a challenging climb of about 3 km.
First, the usual breakaway of the day formed, featuring Shen, Rex, Livyns, Rickaert and Urianstad Bugge (in his last career race together with Lutsenko), which was caught with 4 km to go from the finish.
Then the battle begins: the top riders mark each other closely, and Rochas of Groupama FdJ takes off, only to be caught and passed by the Danish rider Oxenberg of Ineos. But these attempts are wishful thinking. Because on the toughest stretch, the strongest riders are fighting it out: Widar ditches Tom Pidcock last and takes the win. Louis Barré finishes third.
