Van Aert overtaken in the last 100 meters
Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers) wins the Dwars door Vlaanderen, a 184 km Belgian classic from Roeselare to Waregem.
The race is lively, with constant attacks and attempts, and such a high pace that he fails to create a breakaway for over 100 km.
With 50 km to go, Larsen , Gachinard and Gregoire tried to pull away, gaining about thirty seconds on the group reduced to fifty riders.
On the Eikenberg, Van Aert attacked , created a gap, and retook the lead. From behind, Sheffield, Van Dijke, and F. Vermeersch attempted to react.
On the Nokereberg the Belgian attacks again and drops Gregoire, with Larsen staying close behind.
At 15 km to go, the group catches up with the counterattackers, while the leading pair maintains a 20" margin.
On the final pass over the Nokereberg, Van Aer relaunches and remains alone in the lead.
F. Vermeersch and Ganna attempted to break away in the final stages, chasing Van Aert . The group almost recovered, but Ganna re-launched in the final straight, caught the Belgian, and beat him in the final 100 meters. Waerenskjold finished third, ahead of the pack.
