New Zealand sprinter holds firm and beats small group in sprint
Wollaston Ally (FDJ - SUEZ) wins the women's Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race , a 141.8km Australian race.
The race heats up during the second pass on Chalambra Crescent , with several attack attempts. The group thins out a lot, but no athlete manages to create a gap.
In the final flat stretch Towers, Ottestad and Spratt try, but are caught by the group. The final sprint, between about ten athletes, is won easily by Wollaston , very good at resisting on the climbs, despite her characteristics as a sprinter. The New Zealander precedes Swinkels and Ruegg . 9th Malcotti.
