Vinokourov: "No problem, the procedures are underway"
Team Astana has not yet confirmed its World Tour license for next season. On Friday, October 18, the International Cycling Union published an update on the status of professional licenses for the 2025 season. In the men's and WorldTour , the UCI announced that it had received 18 requests, but Astana was missing from the list of teams already "in compliance".
No problem, though, as General Manager Alexander Vinokourov told Cyclingnews : “During the process of submitting the documents required for the license confirmation, some doubts arose around the wording of the bank guarantee and some clarifications were requested, which we provided. Unfortunately,” Vinokourov continued, “The contacts between different banks took some extra time and that is why our team does not appear on the list that was published by the UCI on Friday, October 18. In any case, the registration and license confirmation procedure are ongoing, we are following the necessary steps and Astana is not facing any difficulties.”
