Auvergne Rhône-Alpes: Charmig's solo from the breakaway

Anton Charmig (Uno-X Mobility) wins the second stage of the Tour Auvergne Rhone-Alpes, from Saint-Martin-le-Vinoux in Le Puy-en-Velay   (234.3km).

In the first part of the day, a breakaway formed by Raisberg, Diaz, Veistroffer, Charmig, Thomas, Rernard, Jegat, Garcia Pierna, Van Mechelen and Braz Afonso broke away.

The yellow jersey group gives the leaders a good margin, given the absence of any men who pose a threat to the classification.

With 50km to go, Veistroffer and Braz Afonso remain alone in the lead, but on the Côte des Baraque the cards are reshuffled and seven remain in front.

On the final Cote, Charmig gained an advantage over Garcia Pierna and Braz Afonso. The Dane increased his lead in the final kilometers and won solo. Renard took second place, Van Mechelen third.

The peloton was calm, with the big names finishing more than 3 minutes behind and Baudin easily defending his yellow jersey.
