Jan Christen wins the Trofeo Calvià, Challenge Mallorca, with start and finish in Palmanova , 149.6 km. Nairo Quintana, attacks 40 km from the finish and takes away a small group of eleven riders: Barrenetxea, Charmig, Champoussin, Bonneau, Morgado, Stork, Molenaar, Costiou, Marcellusi and Pellizzari .

The attackers gain about 30” on the group, in just under two kilometers. With 30 km to go, however, the leading group reshuffles and six remain in the lead, including three Italians: Marcellusi, Scaroni, Covi , Wandhal, Chiumil and Barre.  

The attackers' action, however, was not effective and 25 km from the finish line the group returned to being compact.  

Then Frederik Wandahl ( Red Bull Bora ) attacks again and behind him the two Astana riders, Champoussin and Scaroni , also very active, try to chase him, but the Frenchman cannot keep up the pace and it is the Italian who tries to chase him alone.

Scaroni reaches Wandahl with 12 km to go while Jan Christen (UAE Team Emirates) attacks from behind and immediately reaches the two leaders.   Hirschi, (Tudor) , one of the favourites, tries his luck with 5km to go, with Morgado (UAE Team Emirates) closing in on him.

Then Christen makes the decisive attack in the last kilometer and goes on to win. Scaroni comes in second, ahead of Morgado, author of a great progression in the final and Wandahl; while Hirschi comes in fifth.
