The 221.2km Clasica de San Sebastián will take place on Saturday 1 August.

The particularly tough route follows that of last year's edition, with a rather undulating first part characterised by the Urraki climb (8.5 km at 6.9%), the longest of the route.

The race will however come to the fore around 70 km from the finish with the rapid succession of sprints by Jaizkibel , Erlatz and Murgil Montorra .

With this type of route, sprinters , even those with endurance, seem to be cut off from the final victory, with the steep slopes definitely more favorable to climbers.

The big favorite will be Evenepoel , fresh from his second place at the Tour and a three-time winner here in the Basque Country. Challenging the Belgian will be defending champion Ciccone, joined by Simmons. Other possible contenders for the final podium include Scaroni , Gall , Narvaez , and Christen . Watch out for the UAE, which has several "loose cannons" who could turn the race around, such as Arrieta, Cosnefroy, and Vine.

Other men who could secure a top 15 finish include Tulett, Pellizzari , Roglic and Van Gils who will join Evenepoel, Healy , Plapp, Bilbao, Van Eetvelt, Van Wilder and Jorgenson .
