The Tudor sports director, exclusively to Fantacycling, also spoke about Alaphilippe
Michael Storer can no longer hide. After the beautiful stage victory at the Tour of the Alps and the fifth place finish at this year's Paris-Nice, the Australian rider is a candidate to be one of the names to keep an eye on for the next Giro d'Italia also from a Fantacycling perspective .
His victory in the second stage of the Tour of the Alps did nothing but confirm his excellent form, in addition to the progress made in the last year. As also confirmed by the sports director of Tudor, Cludio Cozzi, who spoke live in the latest episode of "Il Salotto di Fantacycling" on the BO2 channels : "Last year he finished tenth in the Giro d'Italia and the time he lost, he lost on the descent. This year we worked a bit more on aerodynamics, among other things he was helped a lot by his teammates Matteo Trentin and Larry Warbasse and it seems to me that today he went down well".
Speaking to Riccardo Magrini, present in the studio, Cozzi continued: “I heard you on television, at a certain point he went long at a curve and I said, okay, I'll turn it off!”.
Then Cozzi also spoke about Julian Alaphilippe , giving a valuable indication also in terms of Fantacycling : “I think that Alaphilippe’s real value now is to chase down stages, as he did last year at the Giro d’Italia, winning one. He is very motivated and then he is someone who makes the team run very well and helps his teammates. This year he had a bit of bad luck, after the Milan-Sanremo he was out for a week with a fever and returned to the Basque Country to train for the Ardennes. However, with the fast cycling that exists now, losing a week is a lot. But he is a great champion, so he will surely pull a rabbit out of the hat, hopefully even two or three”.
