Magnus Cort Nielsen won the second stage of the 142km Tour of the Dauphiné, from Gannat to the Col de la Loge.

On the first uphill finish of the race, with not impossible gradients, the Dane from Uno-X crossed the finish line first ahead of Primoz Roglic and Matteo Jorgenson. Good fourth place for Giulio Ciccone.

Nothing to do for Bruno Armirail, protagonist of a long breakaway first with four other riders (Gregaard, Le Berre, Conca and Meurisse) and then, in the last km, alone. But the Frenchman was caught by the group of the best (about fifty remaining) 200 meters from the end.

Mads Pedersen broke away along the final climb while Antonio Tiberi is already out of the rankings. Cort is the new leader of the general classification.
