Other protests that prevent the race from taking place regularly
Egan Bernal (Ineos Grenadiers) wins the sixteenth stage of the Vuelta a España, from Poio to Mos. Castro de Herville (167.9km).
As happened in the eleventh stage, protests by some demonstrators forced the organizers to remove the final climb.
Today too, the breakaway immediately took a wide lead: the 17 riders who had started in the first part were left with several minutes of margin by the red jersey group.
On the Alto da Groba the challenge between the attackers heats up with Landa making a run followed by Bernal , Braz , Rolland and Denz .
On the Alto de Prado , Rolland breaks away in front, while in the group Bahrain sets a very strong pace and only about ten of the best remain.
Braz Alfonso was knocked out of contention by a puncture, leaving Bernal and Landa to battle for victory in a sprint at the foot of the climb. The Colombian sprinted first, outmaneuvered Landa , and won in an almost surreal setting. Rolland finished third.
The best riders arrive together, 6 minutes behind, with the exception of Gall who struggles on the Alto de Prado and is overtaken by Pellizzari in the general classification.
