The Team Ineos rider made the official announcement on X

It's now official, Geraint Thomas will retire at the end of 2025. The Team Ineos Grenadiers rider made his announcement in a post on X: "I thought it was about time I made it official. Yes, this will be my last year in the peloton. It's not been a bad ride eh?" wrote the Welshman. "Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine being a professional for 19 years. There will be plenty of time to reflect, but I've got some big races to get ready for before then."

Thomas, who will turn 39 on May 25, has won the Tour de France in 2018 and has obtained four podiums in the Grand Tours, including the last two consecutive ones at the Giro d'Italia 2023 and 2024. The Giro d'Italia could be one of the races in which Thomas will be a protagonist in his last season as a professional. At Fantacycling he has a value of 19 fantamillions; will you bet on him again?
