The breakaway arrives, the Spaniard also takes the yellow jersey

Ivàn Romeo (Movistar Team) wins the third stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné from Brioude to Charantonnay (207.2km).

The first part of the stage, with several climbs, favoured a 13-man breakaway , which included interesting names such as Van der Poel and Dunbar, Lipowitz and Tejada for the general classification.

The group keeps the attackers under control and takes a 1' gap at the foot of the Côte du Château Jaune. On the climb Bernard, Lipowitz, Tejada and Leknessund take advantage, while from behind no one tries to break away, but the yellow jersey Milan breaks away .

In the final kilometres the group is cut off for the stage victory, with Van der Poel and Barrè joining the head of the race and, subsequently, four other men from the initial breakaway.

After several attempts, 5 km from the finish line, Romeo attacks and goes off alone. The Spaniard arrives alone, wins the stage and takes the yellow jersey. Tejada and Barrè are placed behind him.
