Immediate show, Vingegaard second
Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates) won the first stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné, from Domérat to Montluçon, 195.8km with a circuit finish.
Caught with Fred Wright at -6 from the finish, Lukas Nerurkar of Ef tries but the big names move with a real attack, on the last ramp at -5, by Jonas Vingegaard followed by Tadej Pogacar, Mathieu Van der Poel, Remco Evenepoel and Santiago Buitrago.
The five reach an agreement but there are four of them playing for the stage win, shortly before being caught by the group, with Pogacar being the fastest in the sprint over Vingegaard and Van der Poel.
The Slovenian is the first leader of the general classification.
