The protagonists of the race at the start with a time trial

The Grande Partenza of the Giro d'Italia Women , organized for the first time by RCS Sport in partnership with the FCI - Italian Cycling Federation, will be tomorrow, 7 July, with a 15.7 km individual time trial in Brescia which will award the first jersey rose.

The overall route includes 12 thousand meters of altitude difference with two flat stages, three medium mountain ones and two high mountain ones with two high altitude finishes. The Blockhaus is the "Cima Alfonsina Strada", which marks the highest climb of the race. The conclusion will be on July 14th in L'Aquila.

At the start there will be the world champion, Lotte Kopecky , who however has already said that she is aiming for stage successes and not the general classification. The second place obtained at the 2023 Tour de France, however, leaves some doubts.

Lots of Italy at the start: Elisa Longo Borghini is chasing her first success in a great stage race. With her, Lidl Trek also lines up Gaia Realini for a good ranking and Elisa Balsamo for the sprints and some difficult stages. In the UAE Team Adq there will be Chiara Consonni for the sprints, Silvia Persico and Erica Magnaldi to make the classification, and Eleonora Gasparrini as the 'joker'. Names to keep an eye on will also be Soraya Paladin, Francesca Barale and Vittoria Guazzini.

There is a good presence of quality foreign athletes: in the ranking there are Juliette Labous, Neve Bradbury, Antonia Niedermaier, Kim Cadzow, Mavi Garcia and Arlenis Sierra.

For stage successes we mention Niamh Fisher Black, Blanka Vas, Elise Chabbey, Liane Lippert, Cecilie Ludwig, Grace Brown, Ana Santesteban, Ingvild Gaskjenn and Fem Van Empel.
