Giro d'Italia: Victory for Valentin Paret Peintre

Success in Bocca di Selva, Bardet recovers positions in second

Valentin Paret Peintre won the tenth stage of the Giro d'Italia, from Pompeii to Bocca delle Selva of 142 km.

On the uphill finish at an altitude of 1,389 metres, the Decathlon Ag2R runner only reached the finish line after a long escape in which he was the protagonist together with other runners. On the final climb he caught up with Ian Tratnik and overtook Romain Bardet, then second on the stage, to achieve his first success as a professional.

The group of pink jersey Tadej Pogacar, led by Ben O'Connor, reached the finish line with a delay of more than three minutes. Tiberi and Uijtdebroeks lose a few seconds.

Olav Kooij, the Visma sprinter who won Sunday's stage in Naples, did not start before the stage. Tomorrow stage for sprinters with arrival in Francavilla al Mare.
