Clara Emond (Ef) won the fourth stage of the women's Giro d'Italia, from Imola to Urbino, of 134 km, by a distance.

The Canadian athlete was the protagonist of a long escape first together with other athletes and then alone for 40 km. Then she managed to resist the return of a chasing group with Soraya Paladin, second on the finish line, and Cecilie Ludwig, third.

Just over a minute later, the pink jersey, Elisa Longo Borghini, and the world champion, Lotte Kopecky, arrived together. Longo Borghini remains leader of the general team.
