Sprint without history in Foligno, Longo Borghini still in the squad

Lotte Kopecky (Sd Worx) won the fifth stage of the women's Giro d'Italia, from Frontone to Foligno, of 108 km.

The final sprint was without history: the world champion achieved the stage success by clearly beating Chiara Consonni and Arlenis Sierra. In the top 10 of the day, four other Italians: fifth Barbara Guarischi, sixth Vittoria Guazzini, eighth Martina Alzini and ninth Laura Tomasi.

Of note is the withdrawal of Elisa Balsamo during the race due to inflammation of her tonsils.

In the general classification Elisa Longo Borghini is still in the pink jersey, but Kopecky is closing in: now the gap between the two is only 3 seconds.
