The 19-year-old leaves everyone behind on the climb and wins alone
Paul Seixas wins the second stage of the Itzulia Basque Country, from Pamplona-Iruña to Cuevas de Mendukilo (164.1km).
In the early stages of the race, a seven-man breakaway formed and approached the decisive climb of San Miguel de Ararar with a 1'30" lead over the yellow jersey group.
Seixas 's Decathlon set the pace on the climb: the Frenchman attacked 7 km from the summit and immediately created a gap. The 2006-born rider went alone to rejoin the breakaway, while Lipowitz and Del Toro attempted to react from behind, but Seixas crested the summit with a 1-minute lead over a small group of eight chasing riders.
The Frenchman wins by a wide margin. Skjelmose and Roglic take the podium of the day.
Del Toro fared badly, even breaking away from the first group, while Ayuso sank already on the main climb.
