The first program of the Colombian for 2023
Egan Bernal resumes ... from Colombia. The Ineos Grenadiers rider spoke to Caracol Radio's VBar program, to confirm that his first races of 2023 should be at home. First of all, the Giro di Colombia scheduled (for now) from 7 to 12 February.
The winner of a Giro and a Tour experienced a very difficult 2022: victim of a serious accident on Colombian roads in January, when he ran into a bus risking his life, Bernal made an extraordinary recovery from multiple fractures to be able to return to competitions as soon as possible.
After returning to the Tour of Denmark and having competed in other minor races, the decision to return home to continue working from a physical point of view.
Bernal already has a first racing program in mind: " The ideal is to start the Tour of Colombia, but we don't know yet if they will, but if it wasn't San Juan (in Argentina) it would be an option.
Then maybe Paris Nice and Strade Bianche after the national championships . They are just ideas and everything can change. Normally I like to have a fixed and controlled plan, but this year will be complicated because it will depend on how the season goes. "
The cyclist also talked about the possibility of making a good preparation for the Tour de France , arriving in the best possible shape.
On how he assimilated the return to high competition, he replied: "I wanted to see if I had a bit of fear left to join the group. In the first kilometers I was very anxious. After half the race (in Denmark) I was normal and it's what I was looking for ".
