Miguel Angel Lopez ( Movistar Team ) won the 18th stage of La Vuelta , from Salas to Alto de Gamoniteiru of 162 km. The Colombian rider preceded Primoz Roglic ( Team Jumbo Visma ), teammate Enric Mas and Egan Bernal ( Ineos Grenadiers ) by a few seconds.

Today's dreaded fraction, with four mountain grand prix and arrival at high altitude with very hard slopes, decided on the last climb: Lopez attacked just over 4 km from the finish, managing to arrive alone, immersed in the fog , at the finish. Behind him Roglic easily controlled a tough Bernal while Haig lost ground. Bahrain's Australian Victorius arrived one minute late.

In the general classification frozen positions: Roglic always red jersey ahead of Mas and Lopez.
