The Slovakian champion retires with 121 victories

Yesterday, October 1st, Peter Sagan 's road cycling career came to an end. As announced at the beginning of the season, the Slovakian leaves the group at the age of 33 at the end of the Tour de Vandée in France, which he finished in ninth place, but above all with 121 victories under his belt including three consecutive world championships, one Flanders, one Roubaix, seven green jerseys at the Tour de France (record) and three Ghent-Wevelgem as well as 12 stage wins at the Grand Boucle and a long series of successes around Europe. The last years of suffering and without great results do not erase the splendid memories of a not too distant past made up of many successes and life-or-death challenges with, among others, Cancellara, Boonen, Gilbert and Cavendish.

An unconventional character who revolutionized the world of cycling for 15 years and more. And that will be missed by a sport that, today, makes exaggerated tactics and maniacal and overly technological preparations an unpleasant trademark.

King Peter's next challenge will be mountain biking, his other great passion, with which he will try to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic trials.

And will he be sorry?: " I will miss the team group, not the one in the race."

Unique, Peter.
