Marco Villa , 56-year-old former track cyclist from Abbiategrasso, Olympic bronze medalist in the Americana in Sydney, is the new technical commissioner of the Italian national road cycling team (road race and time trial). The Cycling Federation announced this at the end of today's federal council. He takes over from Davide Bennati.

Villa has been the track coach for years, winning three Olympic golds with Viviani in Rio 2016 in the Omnium, with the men's team pursuit quartet of Lamon, Consonni, Milan and Ganna in Tokyo 2021 and in the women's Americana with Consonni and Guazzini in Paris 2024. Now he is moving to the road but will also maintain, as the FCI reports, the role of track coach for the women's sector, together with Diego Bragato.

The Elite men's track team will be managed by Dino Salvoldi, who will continue to manage the Junior road and track teams. Marco Velo is the new coach of the women's national team.

There is also news in BMX. Mattia Furlan is the new CT of BMX race, while the management of the National freestyle team is entrusted to Manlio Iaccarino. Daniele Pontoni confirmed in cyclocross.
