Alberto Bettiol will not be at the start of the Road World Championships scheduled for Sunday, September 29 in Switzerland. The reigning Italian champion has withdrawn from the call-up due to poor physical condition.

So the technical commissioner Daniele Bennati has chosen Andrea Bagioli, Mattia Cattaneo, Giulio Ciccone, Marco Frigo, Lorenzo Rota, Antonio Tiberi, Diego Ulissi, Edoardo Zambanini and Filippo Zana. One of them will be a reserve and will not be deployed.

For the time trial, which will be held on September 22, Filippo Ganna and Edoardo Affini will be at the start.

For the women's races, Italy will be represented in the time trial by Vittoria Guazzini and Gaia Masetti (on September 22nd). While in the road race on September 28th there will be Alice Arzuffi, Elisa Balsamo, Elisa Longo Borghini, Barbara Malcotti, Erica Magnaldi, Soraya Paladin and Gaia Realini.

Edoardo Affini, Mattia Cattaneo, Filippo Ganna, Elisa Longo Borghini, Gaia Realini and Soraya Paladin will also participate in the mixed time relay on Wednesday 25 September.
