Muriel Furrer did not make it; the eighteen-year-old Swiss died as a result of yesterday's fall. Immediately taken to the hospital where she underwent emergency surgery, Muriel immediately appeared to be in critical condition and unfortunately the operation did not have the hoped-for outcome. This morning her condition was very serious, while the UCI, in agreement with her family, announced that the World Championships program would continue without changes, at least for today.

A great sorrow from the entire cycling world. Rest in peace Muriel.
