Netcompany Ineos 's rebuilding for the 2027 season continues. The British team has announced its seventh new arrival : American Riley Sheehan , who is leaving NSN and signing a two-year contract.
Born in 1999, 26 years old, Sheehan already has three professional victories to his name: the 2023 Paris-Tours , the Circuit de Wallonie , and a stage of the Tour of the Czech Republic , both of which he won in the season just ended. He is a versatile rider, ready to strengthen the team's Classics squad.
The man himself doesn't hide his enthusiasm: "Joining Netcompany Ineos is a dream come true. It's a team I've admired since I was a boy, and being part of such a successful and respected organization is something special," he stated on the team website. He continued: "I believe I still have a lot to prove in my career, and having the support of this team is the perfect step. I'm fired up, I want to set ambitious goals and give everything to help the team win, continuing to push myself to become the best rider I can be."
Geraint Thomas , now the team's Director of Racing, also expressed his appreciation: "Riley is an interesting rider. He's fast, technically very skilled, and capable of performing on a variety of terrain." The Welshman added: "We see him as an excellent addition to our Classics squad, but he can contribute across the entire calendar. He brings a lot of versatility to the team, and we're happy to help him grow further."
Sheehan is part of an already very active market. He joins Clément Champoussin , Harold Tejada , James Shaw , Joe Blackmore , Markel Beloki , and Benjamin Noval . The goal of the historic British WorldTour powerhouse is clear: to build a competitive roster year-round.
The American rider also had a rather eventful end to the season. At the World Championships, he was part of the winning US team alongside Brandon McNulty , arriving as Neilson Powless ' replacement after publicly expressing his disappointment at being initially excluded from the selection process. The last-minute call, arriving just hours before the Montreal GP, speaks volumes about his character and willingness.
With this addition, Netcompany Ineos' roster rises to 20 riders confirmed for 2027. The most notable departure is that of Filippo Ganna , heading to Lidl-Trek, but three of Sheehan's compatriots also leave: Artem Shmidt , Magnus Sheffield , and AJ August . Dave Brailsford 's team is expected to complete the maximum 30 names with a mix of renewals yet to be announced and further new arrivals.
