Elia Viviani will not participate in the Giro d'Italia , now it's official. The Olympic champion of the Omnium in Rio 2016 and bronze in Tokyo in 2021 is not among the 8 men of the I neos Grenadiers . The British team has made official the formation that will start on Friday 6 May from Budapest and the blue sprinter is not there.

The Ineos will be in the service of Captain Richard Carapaz . The Ecuadorian, after winning in 2019, is aiming for a brace in the pink race. With him the compatriot Narvaez , the Spanish Castroviejo , the Australian Porte , the Italian Puccio , the French Sivakov and the British Swift and Tulett .  

It was since 2017 that Viviani had not skipped the pink race in which, in her career, she won eight stage wins: the first in 2013 (21st stage, Riese Pio X-Brescia), the last last year (21st stage, Senago -Milan). At the end of the season Elia had moved from Cofidis to Ineos and on several occasions he had admitted that the Giro d'Italia was the great goal of the season.
