The group miscalculated and gave too much space to the breakaway that started at -130km

Lotte Claes (Arkéa - B&B Hotels Women) wins the women's Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, 137.9 km.

The early breakaway was given too much space by the group, the 4 in command, Pirrone, Claes, Nerlo and Dock, acquired a maximum advantage of over 11' .

On the Kapelmuur Nerlo and Claes gain an advantage over their other two attacking teammates, while in the group Vollering extends the lead together with Pieterse , but by now it is too late to come back.

In the final two-man sprint, Nerlo starts off very long to try to anticipate, Claes resists, joins her opponent at -200 meters and triumphs. Vollering takes third place.
