The duo are aiming for stage victories and special jerseys in the Spanish race

Lidl-Trek is entering the 2025 Vuelta a España with a pair of aces: Mads Pedersen and Giulio Ciccone . The team aims to secure stage victories, the polka-dot mountains jersey, and complete a historic hat-trick in the Grand Tour points classifications.

Dane Pedersen, fresh from an impressive Tour of Denmark with three stage wins and the overall classification, will be the key figure in the flat stages. He's already claimed four wins and the cyclamen jersey at the Giro d'Italia, while teammate Jonathan Milan won the green jersey at the Tour de France. Now Pedersen has the chance to complete a rare hat-trick for the team in the points classifications.

"The first goal is stage wins, which I hope will put me in a good position for the points classification. Having the team win all three Grand Tour jerseys in the same year would be the icing on the cake," said Pedersen.

Ciccone, fully recovered from his Giro crash and winner of the San Sebastian Classic and a stage of the Vuelta a Burgos, will focus on the mountain stages. The Italian isn't aiming for the general classification, but for the polka-dot jersey: "I'd rather win stages and the KOM jersey than chase a GC finish that might never come."

The team is completed by Amanuel Gherbreigzabhier, Giro time trial winner Daan Hoole, Andrea Bagioli, Søren Kragh Andersen, Julien Bernard and Spaniard Carlos Verona, a previous Giro stage winner.
