Tough race or group sprint? The prediction is difficult
On Thursday 1st May the Frankfurt GP will be held in Germany, or rather the Eschborn-Frankfurt, a 198km World Tour race.
The route includes, as always, the double climb of Felberg from two different sides, which in recent years has not caused particular difficulties for the sprinters. The last climb of the day, the Mammolshain (2.3 km at 8.3%) is more challenging in terms of gradient, and must be tackled three times. Even if far from the finish line (the last passage is over 35 km from the end), it can give rise to an attack by a small group expected to then play for the final victory.
The most resistant sprinters are ready to do battle: this is the case of Jasper Philipsen, who returns to racing after Roubaix. Then Paul Magnier, Michael Matthews, Ethan Vernon, Magnus Cort and Tobias Lund Andresen will fight for a good placement.
In the unofficial start list, we still find other interesting names for a slightly tougher race: this is the case of Thibau Nys, Neilson Powless, Maximilian Schachmann, Antonio Morgado, Marc Hirschi and Simone Velasco, fourth in the last Liège.
The presence of the last winner, Maxim Van Gils, is uncertain, a great disappointment at the Ardennes Triptych.
Remember to line up your team, the last one before the Giro d'Italia starting on Friday 9th May.
