The Dane is too strong uphill: the race of the two seas is his!
Another show of strength from Jonas Vingegaard who achieves his second success in this Tirreno Adriatico by winning the sixth stage from Sassoferrato to Cagli (180km).
Carapaz and Leknessund , survivors of a nine-man escape, approach the final climb with a 1'30" lead, with the Ecuadorian trying to go alone.
As a group, Jay Hindley 's BORA Hansgrohe set a high pace, with the Australian attacking with 6.5km to go, followed by Vingegaard and Ayuso . Carapaz is taken back into the lead and, a few hundred meters later, Vingegaard takes off decisively and remains alone in the lead.
The Dane constantly gains on his pursuers and wins the second consecutive stage. Behind him, Ayuso beats Hindley for second place, while Del Toro , author of a sensational comeback, placed fourth both in the stage and in the general classification.
No Italian in the top ten of the stage or in the general classification.
