The British national team has a strong men's team but no representatives in the women's Elite road race.

Great Britain is preparing for the UCI World Championships in Rwanda with a team led by Tom Pidcock and Oscar Onley in the men's road race, while Anna Henderson will be the only elite women's representative, competing only in the time trial.

On the men's team, Pidcock and Onley, coming off third place in the Vuelta and fourth in the Tour de France, respectively, will be among the favorites on the tough Kigali route. They will be joined by Mark Donovan, Oliver Knight, James Knox, Bjorn Koerdt, Fred Wright, and former Tour du Rwanda winner Joe Blackmore.

Anna Henderson, Olympic time trial silver medalist in Paris, will be the only British elite woman competing. The national team has decided not to participate in the women's road race, given Georgi Pfeiffer's injury and the particularly difficult course.

High hopes are pinned on the U23 women's category, where junior world champion Cat Ferguson will be among the favorites in the road race, while Zoe Bäckstedt is aiming for victory in the time trial. Ferguson will be supported by other WorldTour-level athletes such as Imogen Wolff, Flora Perkins, and Millie Couzens.

In the youth categories, world time trial champion Dylan Sage and Liège-Bastogne-Liège Junior winner Harry Hudson will lead the men's squad, while Erin Boothman and Arabella Blackburn will spearhead the junior women's squad.

Performance Director Stephen Park emphasized that the challenging course will test the athletes, but said he was confident in the team's potential, especially in the youth categories where they are aiming to win several medals.
