Departure from Copenhagen with a time trial, the Roubaix pavé is back
A demanding Tour de France , with the return of historic climbs and the cobblestones of the Roubaix. This morning in Paris the 2022 route of the Grande Boucle was unveiled, which will start on Friday 1 July from Copenhagen with a 13 km time trial. Two more stops for fast wheels in Denmark and then the rest day before returning to France with the Dunkerque-Calais and the risk of fans. The next stage will start from Lille to reach the Arenberg forest, the symbolic place of Roubaix, and eleven pavé sectors to be tackled for a total of 20 km of stones. The first uphill arrival will be on 8 July at La Planche des Belles Filles , then the encroachment into Switzerland and the treacherous ascents of the Vosges . Then the Alps and the two fearsome uphill arrivals of Col du Granon and Alpe d'Huez (in both the Col du Galibier will be climbed from two different sides).
The Tour will continue towards the Pyrenees not before having faced the Massif Central and the treacherous arrival of Mende . After the third day of rest, it will be time for the Pyrenees with the hard arrival in Peyragudes and, the next day, the finish line in Hautacam . On the penultimate day, the 40 km time trial in Rocamadour is confirmed before the classic arrival in Paris on the Champs Elysées .
The route includes 3,328 km and five uphill finishes. Two time trials, 6 mountain stages, 6 flat stages and 7 medium mountain stages. There will be 23 Gpm while the bonus seconds will disappear at the arrival of the stage .
