Anthony Turgis (Total Energies) won the 199km ninth stage of the Tour de France, starting and finishing in Troyes.

The stage with 14 sectors of dirt road was spectacular with many escape attempts. Pidcock, Stuyven, Healy, Gee, Aranburu, Romo, Lutsenko and Turgis are playing for success up front. Van der Poel, Gaudu, Rui Costa, Matthews, Girmay, Fulglsang and Tiller go in pursuit of them. But they move too late to catch up.

Behind them, among the big names in the general classification, the first to attack is Remco Evenepoel, over 70 km from the finish. Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard on him but the action fades. Forcing by Pogacar at -20 to which Matteo Jorgenson responds and, with a bit of effort, also Vingegaard. Still chasing, however, Primoz Roglic and Carlos Rodriguez. But the yellow jersey's attack also fails to hit the mark.

Returning to the attackers, Stuyven tries but is caught in the last kilometre: at the finish line it is Turgis who celebrates in front of Pidcock and Gee. Pogacar's group, with all the best in the rankings, reaches almost two minutes.
