Jonas Vingegaard won the 18th stage of the Tour de France, from Lourdes to Hautacam of 143.2 km, the last part of the Pyrenees with an uphill finish. The Dane is one step away from conquering the Grande Boucle.

Show even today on the French roads. The escape goes away, with Wout Van Aert the absolute protagonist, while Tadej Pogaca r attacks several times in an attempt to remove the yellow jersey. Chills along the descent of the Col de Spandelles with the leader of the general classification who risks falling and, a few kilometers further on, the Slovenian who instead ends up on the ground. Vingegaard awaits him and the two shake hands in a symbolic gesture that will remain in the history of the Tour.

Van Aert, Thibaut Pinot and Daniel Martinez take the final climb in the lead: the Belgian is overflowing and after being caught by his captain, he helps him to detach Pogacar for good. Vingegaard (new polka dot jersey) goes alone to conquer the stage, behind him Pogacar off by over a minute. Geraint Thomas runs in defense, who in any case consolidates his third place. David Gaudu, on the other hand, overtakes Nairo Quintana: he is now fourth in the standings.
