Peter Sagan (Total Energies) won the third stage of the Tour of Switzerland, from Aesch to Grenchen of 176.9 km. The Slovak champion preceded Bryan Coquard (Cofidis) and Alexander Kristoff (Intermarchè Wanty Gobert) in the sprint.

To report a long escape resumed by the group that saw among the protagonists Quinn Simmons, Philippe Gilbert and Stefan Bissegger, the last to surrender 10 kilometers from the finish, and a fall that involved, among others, Maximilian Schachmann. Alexey Lutsenko also lost contact with the leaders.
