The Colombian from UAE precedes Gaviria and Thijssen

Juan Sebastian Molano won the first stage of the Tour of Oman, from Ministry of Tourism to Bimmah Sink Hole, 170.9 km.

The stage began with a challenging climb, exploited by Alex Díaz, José Luis Faura, and Patryk Goszczurny to form the day's breakaway. The wind was light, and the peloton easily controlled the leading trio, eventually catching them with 22 kilometers to go.

The sprinters' battle toward the Bimmah Sink Hole began a few kilometers from the finish line, with no technical difficulties hindering the runners. In the final showdown, Molano emerged victorious, beating Fernando Gaviria, who seemed to have the speed but not the space against the barriers, and Gerben Thijssen.

The UAE Emirates rider is the first leader of the general classification.
